Nansha District of Guangzhou City is located in the southernmost part of Guangzhou City. The west bank of the Humen Waterway at the Pearl River Estuary. It borders Panyu District to the north. Most of the area is reclaimed alluvial flat land (tidal flat) at the Pearl River Estuary. In 2011, the total area of Old Nansha District was 527.65 square kilometers, including 339.5 square kilometers of land area and 188.15 square kilometers of water area.
